Our Curriculum

Every child deserves the best possible start in life and the support that enables them to fulfil their potential. Children develop quickly in the early years and a child’s experiences between birth and age five have a major impact on their future life.

We comply with the curriculum requirements of the British Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum. The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS framework reflect every child’s right to grow up safe; healthy; enjoying and achieving; making a positive contribution, and with economic well being. Their Four guiding principles are:

  • Every child is a unique child, who is constantly learning and can be resilient, capable, confident and self-assured
  • Children learn to be strong and independent through positive relationships
  • Children develop and learn in different ways and at different rates. Green Roots uses the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum to support the child’s individual learning and allow them to make progress in all areas in a pace and style unique to them.
  • Using this child led teaching approach allows the children to make the best possible start in life and sets the foundations for confident, independent children moving forward into primary education

Communication & Language
At Green Roots Nursery, children are encouraged to speak, listen and express themselves in a variety of different situations. Our language-rich environment builds self-confidence and enhances language skills.
physical_development
Physical Development
At Green Roots Nursery, we encourage children to be active and interactive and to grasp the importance of physical activity. This approach develops coordination and improves movement, body control, fine/gross motor skills and balance. Healthy eating is also encouraged.
literacy
Literacy
At Green Roots Nursery, we will help children start to read and write through helping them connect sounds with letters of the alphabet and inspiring their interest through a variety of engaging reading materials.
mathematics
Mathematics
At Green Roots Nursery, we help children to become more proficient with numeracy. This includes simple addition and subtraction exercises, counting, measuring and comprehension of simple maths found in shapes and spaces.

At Green Roots Nursery, we help children to explore, observe and make sense of the world, environment, technology and people around them
expressive_art_design
Expressive Arts & Design
At Green Roots Nursery, children are given the opportunity to play and explore various activities around art, design, music, dance, role-play, movement and technology. This includes access to a wide variety of media and materials and being encouraged to express ideas, thoughts and feelings.
social_emotional_development
Personal, Social & Emotional Development
At Green Roots Nursery, children are encouraged to develop their social skills, to build a positive sense of self and their own abilities, to build relationships with, and respect for, others around them, to manage feelings and to recognise appropriate behaviours within their groups. Days at Green Roots Nursery are filled with discoveries, adventures and new friends in an environment that celebrates the diversity and innovation!
